Surat : Platforms 4 and 5 at Udhna railway station to remain shut for 100 days from November 17

Surat: Modernisation work at Udhna railway station has led to a key operational decision under which platforms 4 and 5 will remain closed for nearly 100 days from Monday, 17 November. All trains that currently arrive at or depart from these two platforms are being shifted to platform 6, where passenger amenities are still incomplete.

Under the ongoing station redevelopment work, extensive construction is being carried out on platforms 4 and 5, including improvements in safety arrangements and expansion of passenger facilities, as per agency report. Due to this, both platforms will remain out of service for an extended period.

Platform 6, which is now expected to handle all train movements affected by this change, currently lacks several basic facilities. The finishing work on this platform is still pending, and there is no proper provision for drinking water taps, toilets or adequate seating arrangements. In addition, the approach route towards the Surat side is yet to be fully developed, which may create further inconvenience for commuters.

Because of these shortcomings, passengers are likely to face difficulties in reaching the platform and during their wait for trains in the coming weeks. Railway authorities have indicated that efforts are being made to complete the facilities on platform 6 at the earliest, but passengers may have to endure these problems for some time until the work is finished.
