Louisville, November 5: A large cargo aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport, killing seven people and injuring 11 others, according to local authorities. The flight was departing on Tuesday at around 5:15 pm local time and was bound for Honolulu when it went down near the airfield.
As per agency report, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear warned that the death toll could rise as responders worked through the evening. Officials said four of the deceased were not on board the aircraft, indicating casualties on the ground. Video from the scene appeared to show flames and thick smoke on the jet’s left side as it lifted briefly from the runway before crashing back down. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that it is investigating the accident, with additional support expected from the National Transportation Safety Board.
Emergency crews transported 11 injured people to area hospitals, and authorities described some of the injuries as serious. The airport temporarily restricted operations while fire and rescue teams secured the site and investigators began documenting wreckage and debris patterns.
