Rajkot. An outreach program aimed at increasing public awareness about the Atal Pension Yojana, a government scheme designed to provide economic and social security to citizens, was organized today in the city by the Lead Bank. The event witnessed active participation from a large number of bank officials and beneficiaries.

As per agency report, Praveesh Kumar, Chief General Manager of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), highlighted that over 8.30 crore people across India have enrolled under the scheme, including 30 lakh members in Gujarat and 1.48 lakh in Rajkot. He said that with the cooperation of the Lead Bank and the State Level Bankers’ Committee, efforts are being made to extend the benefits of the scheme to the general public.

Addressing the gathering, Kumar described the Atal Pension Yojana as one of the Government of India’s flagship guaranteed pension schemes that ensures economic and social protection for citizens in their later years.

Speaking at the event, senior bank official Rajeshji noted that in today’s changing times, the tendency to save among youth is decreasing while job insecurity is on the rise. He emphasized that the Atal Pension Yojana serves as a strong social security shield and urged greater participation to help more people benefit from the scheme.

On this occasion, representatives from eleven banks were felicitated for their outstanding contributions to the successful implementation of the scheme. The event was also attended by Veena Shah from the State Level Bankers’ Committee, Rajkot Lead Bank Manager Karuna Biswal, and several other senior bank officials.
