JD(U) expels 11 leaders including former minister for anti-party activities

Patna, October 26 : Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the ruling Janata Dal (United) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expelled 11 leaders, including a former minister, for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities and disregarding the party’s ideology.

As per agency report, JD(U) state general secretary Chandan Kumar Singh issued a statement on Saturday evening announcing the expulsion. He said that all 11 leaders have also been suspended from the party’s primary membership following disciplinary action. The party found them involved in activities detrimental to its interests during the crucial election period.

The expelled leaders include former minister Shailesh Kumar, former MLAs Shyam Bahadur Singh and Sudarshan Kumar, as well as former Legislative Council members Sanjay Prasad and Ranvijay Singh. A senior JD(U) leader said that these members were working against the official candidates of the party and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which the JD(U) is part of in Bihar.

The disciplinary action comes just days before the state heads to polls for its 243-member Assembly. Voting will take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, while counting of votes will be held on November 14.
