India Will Soon Be Free from Maoist Terror, Says Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi, October 17 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that the day is not far when India will be completely free from Maoist violence, calling it his personal guarantee. He accused the previous Congress government of promoting urban Naxalism and turning a blind eye to the violence perpetrated by Maoist groups across the country.

As per agency report, addressing the ‘NDTV World Summit’ in New Delhi, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s recent achievements in tackling left-wing extremism. He stated that in the past 75 hours alone, 303 Maoist cadres have surrendered, and now only three districts in the entire country remain under significant Maoist influence. Eleven years ago, nearly 125 districts were affected by Maoist insurgency, a figure that has now come down to just 11, with only three being severely impacted.

Modi said that over the past decade, thousands of Maoists have abandoned violence and joined the mainstream, emphasizing that Maoist terrorism has caused the deaths of thousands over the past five decades. He noted that the extremists obstructed the construction of schools and hospitals, prevented doctors from entering villages, and even bombed institutions. He described Maoist violence as a grave injustice to India’s youth and shared his personal anguish over the years of suffering caused by it.

The Prime Minister declared that it is his guarantee that India will soon be completely free from Naxalism and Maoist terror. The event was also attended by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Modi said that for the first time in decades, regions once affected by Naxalism would celebrate Diwali this year.

He alleged that during the Congress regime, urban Naxals held significant sway and maintained strict censorship to prevent information about Maoist attacks from reaching the public. In contrast, he said, his government had made a conscious effort to engage with misguided youth and bring them back into the mainstream — an approach that, according to him, is now yielding visible results.

Highlighting India’s assertive response to terrorism, Modi said that the country no longer remains silent after terrorist attacks but responds decisively through airstrikes, surgical strikes, and missions like Operation Sindoor. He added that while wars and conflicts dominated global headlines, India emerged as the world’s fastest-growing economy, disproving critics who doubted its resilience.

Modi emphasized that India is unstoppable despite global challenges, stating that the nation’s 1.4 billion citizens are moving forward with full strength and determination. He pointed out that India, once listed among the “Fragile Five” economies, has now become one of the top five economies in the world. From semiconductor manufacturing to shipbuilding, he said, India is demonstrating self-reliance and confidence in every sector.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister stated that India has proven skeptics wrong in digital finance and global economic resilience, earning recognition worldwide as a reliable, responsible, and strong partner and a land full of opportunities.
