Despite Rising Prices, Demand for Silver Gift Items Surges Ahead of Diwali in Surat

Surat: Even as silver prices continue to soar, consumer enthusiasm in the market remains high. With Diwali festivities approaching, the demand for silver gift items and religious articles has seen a remarkable increase this year. Shoppers are increasingly opting for silver products as gifts instead of the traditional sweets and dry fruit boxes.

Maheshbhai Roongta, proprietor of the popular Ghoddod-based store ‘Maharani,’ said that despite the sharp rise in silver prices, customer interest has not diminished. In fact, many buyers are investing in silver anticipating further price increases in the coming days. He noted that gift items priced between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000 are witnessing the highest sales this festive season.

According to Roongta, the store offers a wide range of silver items priced from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2 lakh, including utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, conch shells, lamps, dry fruit boxes, dinner sets, and religious accessories such as pooja chowkies. This year, idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, often paired with decorative silver gifts, have been particularly popular among buyers, with most sales recorded in the Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 range.

Over the past five to seven years, the ‘Maharani’ brand has expanded its presence beyond Surat, gaining recognition in cities like Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Currently, silver dry fruit boxes, dinner sets, and pooja chowkies are among its best-selling products.

Commenting on the ongoing surge in silver prices, Maheshbhai Roongta attributed the trend to increased industrial demand, which has pushed prices to record levels. He added that further appreciation in silver rates is likely in the near future, making silver not just a festive favorite but also a smart investment choice for many customers this Diwali.
