The Vande Bharat Express trains have quickly become a favorite among passengers, offering a comfortable and enhanced rail travel experience. The 10 Vande Bharat trains currently in operation connect 108 districts across 17 states in India. The Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express, which connects the state capitals of Maharashtra and Gujarat, has an occupancy of over 130%, demonstrating its immense popularity.
These new semi high-speed trains are part of India's multi-faceted development plan, providing a pleasant and modern travel experience for passengers. Vande Bharat Express is a symbol of "Atmanirbhar Bharat," demonstrating India's ability to manufacture and develop cutting-edge technology in rail transportation.
According to Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vande Bharat Express offers passengers superior amenities, including reclining seats, executive coaches with rotating seats, 32” screens, Divyang-friendly washrooms, and Braille lettering for seat numbers. The train also incorporates advanced safety measures, such as the KAVACH Train Collision Avoidance System, four platform side cameras, and an advanced regenerative braking system, which increases Indian Railways' Green footprint.
The Metal Beam fencing construction on Mumbai-Ahmedabad route aims to curb cattle runover cases, with metal barriers covering a length of about 622 km. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2023.
Manufactured in India at the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, Vande Bharat trains are set to connect big and small cities across the country. To speed up production, manufacturing of these coaches will soon commence in Latur (Maharashtra), Rae Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), and Sonepat (Haryana).
