Smriti Mandhana Retains Top Spot in ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings Despite Dip in Form

Dubai, October 7. Despite modest performances in the ongoing Women’s ODI World Cup, India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana continues to hold the top position in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, though her lead has slightly narrowed.

As per agency report, Mandhana currently has 791 rating points, maintaining a 60-point advantage over England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt. Before the World Cup, Mandhana had struck two consecutive centuries in the three-match ODI series against Australia, but in the World Cup matches, she managed only eight runs against Sri Lanka and 23 against Pakistan.

Australia’s Beth Mooney follows in third place with 713 points. South Africa’s Tazmin Brits and Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner have climbed the rankings after scoring centuries against New Zealand, occupying the fourth and fifth positions with 706 and 697 points, respectively. Brits gained two spots while Gardner rose seven places, both achieving their career-best rankings.

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine also jumped seven positions to reach eighth place, while Pakistan’s right-handed batter Sidra Ameen, who scored 81 runs against India in Colombo on Saturday, matched her career-best ranking at the tenth spot.

In the bowling rankings, England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to dominate with 792 points. Indian spinner Deepti Sharma remains the only Indian bowler in the top 10, ranking sixth after slipping one place, with 640 points.
