Awareness session in Surat highlights regenerative medicine as key to treating chronic diseases and ageing
Surat. The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a special awareness session on the theme ‘The Advanced Science of Regenerative Medicine – Treatments for Chronic Diseases and Anti-Ageing’. The keynote speaker was Dr. Pradeep Mahajan, Maharashtra Bhushan awardee, founder of StemRx Bioscience Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and a leading expert in regenerative medicine, who shared detailed insights on the subject.
As per report, Dr. Mahajan explained that while nature has given humans the power to heal, science has now enabled the power to regenerate. He highlighted that it is now possible for women to produce eggs even after the age of 45, as the human body has its own repair system in the form of stem cells. Simplifying the complex topic, he said that every cell in the human body carries immense potential and that ageing is not a natural condition but a treatable one. He noted that modern science has reached a stage where it is possible to regenerate embryos from cells and regrow teeth, eliminating the future need for implants.
He further explained that organs developed from stem cells have an extremely low chance of rejection, which is a revolutionary advancement in transplant medicine. Experimental treatments to restore vision lost due to diabetes are also showing promising results. Speaking on early childhood development, Dr. Mahajan emphasized that a child’s education should begin between one-and-a-half to two years of age, when brain neurons are at their most active and receptive stage. Referring to the ancient Gurukul system, he said this was the scientifically appropriate age to begin learning.
Dr. Mahajan also remarked that humans can live a healthy life for up to a century without relying on paracetamol or antibiotics, provided the body’s natural regenerative power is kept active.
The session began with a welcome address by Chamber Group President Rakesh Gandhi. Dr. Jagdish Vaghasia, Chairman of the Industrial Workers Health Committee, presented the program’s outline, while Dr. Sonia Chandani, Co-Chairperson of the Public Health Committee, introduced the chief guest. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the attendees.
