PM Modi Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on Their Birth Anniversaries
New Delhi, October 2 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, recalling their enduring contributions to India’s values and progress.
As per agency report, the Prime Minister visited Rajghat in the morning to offer homage to the Father of the Nation. He stated that India will continue to walk on the path shown by Gandhi to realize the vision of an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat. On social media platform X, Modi reflected on Gandhi’s extraordinary life, noting that his ideals changed the course of human history and demonstrated how courage and simplicity could drive great change. He emphasized Gandhi’s belief in service and compassion as powerful means to empower people, adding that the government remains committed to advancing his vision of truth, non-violence, and social justice. Gandhi Jayanti is observed not only as a tribute to his lifelong commitment to peace and moral living but also globally as the International Day of Non-Violence.
Along with Gandhi, Modi also remembered Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. In another post, he described Shastri as a leader of integrity, humility, and resolve, whose decisive leadership during challenging times strengthened India. Modi recalled Shastri’s iconic slogan, “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan,” which continues to inspire patriotism and serves as a guiding force in efforts to build a stronger, self-reliant India.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1904, in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, and became India’s second Prime Minister in 1964 following the death of Jawaharlal Nehru. His tenure is remembered for his simplicity, moral strength, and vision that remain an inspiration for the nation even today.
