Surat Family’s Noble Gesture During Navratri Gives New Life to Seven Patients

Surat: On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the Rupani family of Surat set a remarkable example of devotion and humanity by donating the organs of 62-year-old Parvatiben Madhavjibhai Rupani, who was declared brain dead at P. P. Savani Hospital. Initiated by Jivandeep Organ Donation Foundation, the noble act became the foundation’s 26th organ donation and brought new life to seven patients.

As per report, Parvatiben, a resident of Singanpor in Surat, had visited a temple in Vadodara on September 23, 2025. She was found unconscious in a bathroom and was immediately taken to P. P. Savani Hospital, where a medical team led by Dr. Jignesh Gangadia and Dr. Hitesh Chitroda declared her brain dead during treatment. Following this, the hospital administration contacted Jivandeep Organ Donation Foundation.

Her husband Madhavjibhai, son Ravibhai, son-in-law and other family members came together and gave their consent for organ donation, respecting Parvatiben’s wish. According to the family, she had once expressed her resolve to donate her organs if declared brain dead, after attending an awareness session by Jasvinbhai Kunjadiya in her village.

Through this selfless act, both hands were donated to Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, both kidneys and the liver were given to Apollo Hospital, Ahmedabad, and her eyes were donated to Lokdrashti Eye Bank under the care of Dr. Praful Shiroya. This gesture has saved and transformed the lives of seven people.

The effort was supported by P. P. Savani Hospital chairman Vallabhbhai Savani, Maheshbhai Savani, Jivandeep Organ Donation Foundation founder P. M. Gondaliya, Dr. Nilesh Kachhadiya, Vipul Tadavya and the hospital’s medical and nursing staff. With this latest donation, Jivandeep Organ Donation Foundation has facilitated 26 organ donations in Surat so far.
