Anupam Kher’s ‘Tanvi The Great’ Set for Re-Release Across 17 Cities

Mumbai, September 23 : Veteran actor and director Anupam Kher’s film ‘Tanvi The Great’ is once again preparing to reach cinema halls, with the actor himself announcing the development through a social media post. He urged audiences to give the film a second chance, expressing his belief that sometimes the second opportunity turns out to be more rewarding than the first.

As per agency report, the film will be re-released on September 26 in around 17 cities across India. Kher shared a personal story through an Instagram video, recalling that during the early days of his career he was removed from the film ‘Saaransh’ just 10 days before shooting began, and veteran actor Sanjeev Kumar was given the role instead. He revealed that after debating with director Mahesh Bhatt, he managed to reclaim the opportunity through sheer perseverance. Kher reflected that this turning point helped him sustain a career of more than four decades, during which he has acted in over 500 films. Drawing from this experience, he explained his decision to give ‘Tanvi The Great’ another release as a second chance.

The actor admitted that when the film was first released, it went unnoticed by a large number of viewers, with many people not even aware of its arrival and departure from theatres. However, those who did watch it praised its story and presentation. The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, was screened in New York, and also received appreciation from several prominent figures, including the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and the Chief Minister of Delhi.

Kher expressed that in his entire career, he has never seen one of his films receive such heartfelt acclaim as ‘Tanvi The Great’. The story highlights the valor of the Indian Army, the emotional bond between a grandfather and granddaughter, and the strength of a mother-daughter relationship. At its core, it is about a mother’s determination to empower her daughter and make her self-reliant.

Praising actress Shubhangi’s performance, Kher remarked that she put in remarkable effort to portray her role, adding that he was speaking not just as a director but as a teacher who had witnessed her dedication firsthand.
