Three Arrested for Looting Rs 1.4 Crore Worth of Gold Disguised as Policemen in Delhi

New Delhi, September 22 – Delhi Police have arrested three men accused of staging a heist by posing as policemen and looting Rs 20 lakh in cash and 1.4 kilograms of gold worth around Rs 1.4 crore from a jewellery shop in Shahdara’s Farsh Bazar area. The arrests were announced by officials on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Prashant Raj Kumar Kadam (25), Shubham Raja Ram Kamble (25), and Vikas Kedar (30), an employee of the jewellery shop. According to police, the incident took place on September 15, when two men dressed as police officers entered the shop and fled with cash and jewellery.

During the investigation, Vikas was taken into custody. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that further leads traced Prashant and Shubham to Maharashtra, where they were arrested with the help of local police. Interrogation revealed that Prashant had met Vikas and another associate named Jeevan three years ago at a blood donation camp in Sangli. About two weeks before the crime, Vikas and Jeevan contacted Prashant with a plan to rob his employer’s jewellery store.

They proposed disguising as policemen to avoid resistance from the shop staff. To execute the plan, Prashant roped in his friend Shubham. On September 13, Prashant and Shubham left Sangli on the Goa Express train and arrived in Delhi at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station on September 15. Vikas guided them over a social media call, directing them to Shahdara Metro Station and later instructing them to strike when the shop owner left for lunch.

Around 1:30 pm, when the owner Shankar Pujari stepped out, Prashant and Shubham entered the shop in police uniforms and carried out the robbery. They fled first to Uttam Nagar in an auto-rickshaw and then hired a taxi to Jaipur. Vikas later helped them board a bus to Mumbai while he remained in Jaipur. To cover his tracks, Vikas phoned his employer with a fabricated story, claiming he had been kidnapped and robbed as well.

Police teams reached Jaipur and took Vikas into custody. However, he repeatedly misled investigators with false accounts until sustained interrogation led him to confess. He admitted to being directly involved in planning and facilitating the heist.

As per agency report, investigators are still probing the role of Jeevan, whose involvement in the crime has not yet been fully established. The case remains under further investigation.
