SGCCI Delegation Visits Parliament in New Delhi to Witness India's Democratic Process

Surat: A 65-member delegation from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) undertook a two-day visit to New Delhi on August 5 and 6, 2025, with the objective of observing the functioning of the Indian Parliament and gaining deeper insights into the country's democratic system.

The delegation was led by Chamber President Nikhil Madrasi, Vice President Ashok Jirawala, Acting Honorary Secretary Bhavesh Tailor, Honorary Treasurer CA Mitesh Modi, Industrial Visit Committee Chairman Arvind Babawala, Co-Chairmen Chetan Seth and Amit Shah, Group Chairman Giridhargopal Mundra, Rajendra Lalwala, Bharat Vanawala, and Sanjeev Gandhi.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation toured the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya (Prime Ministers' Museum), where they explored the lives, struggles, and nation-building contributions of all the Prime Ministers of India. Following this, they visited both the old and new Parliament buildings and witnessed firsthand how India's parliamentary system operates.

As per agency report, SGCCI President Nikhil Madrasi extended gratitude to Union Minister for Water Resources C.R. Patil, Surat MP Mukeshbhai Dalal, and MP Govindbhai Dholakia for facilitating the visit and making the experience possible. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Union Minister Mansukhbhai Mandaviya, MP Mukeshbhai Dalal, and Gujarat MLA Arjunbhai Modhwadia during their time at the Parliament.

On the second day, the delegates observed a live Lok Sabha session in the new Parliament building. They witnessed prominent national leaders and MPs in action during parliamentary discussions and debates. Those present in the session included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Anurag Thakur, Kangana Ranaut, Arun Govil, Akhilesh Yadav, Purushottam Rupala, Shashi Tharoor, Supriya Sule, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Om Birla, JP Nadda, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jitendra Singh, and several other senior Members of Parliament.

Through this visit, SGCCI members gained valuable exposure to the inner workings of India’s legislative system and the dynamic environment of parliamentary proceedings, further strengthening their understanding of democratic governance.
