Rajkot : ATS Conducts Major Operation, Seizes Heroin Drugs Worth 214 Crores
In a major operation, the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat has seized a massive haul of heroin worth Rs 214 crore ($28.5 million) near Paddhari village on the Rajkot-Jamnagar highway. The operation, which took place overnight, resulted in the detention of three accused individuals.
The ATS team confiscated an estimated 31 kg of heroin in this operation, marking a significant blow to the drug trafficking networks operating in the region. This seizure comes amid increased scrutiny of the Rajkot City Police Crime Branch, which has been criticized for its perceived inability to detect such a large quantity of drugs in the city.
Drug seizures have been on the rise in Gujarat, with authorities reporting multiple significant hauls over the past few days. On Friday, the Gujarat ATS again succeeded in intercepting a substantial shipment of narcotics on the Jamnagar road in a Rajkot village. The total weight of the recovered drugs was 31 kg, with an estimated market value of Rs 214 crore.
These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of the Gujarat ATS to combat drug trafficking in the region and to protect the local community from the harm caused by these illicit substances.
