Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro on August 10
Bengaluru is set to witness a significant boost in its urban infrastructure as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro on August 10. The announcement was made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tejasvi Surya on Sunday, who also confirmed that the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the metro network during his visit.
Surya, in a post on social media platform X, described the upcoming visit as historic for South Bengaluru. He emphasized that the Yellow Line's commencement and the initiation of Metro Phase-3 will benefit nearly 2.5 million residents in the region. He noted that the Yellow Line project will meet its targeted timeline of August 15 due to the Prime Minister’s personal intervention and insistence on timely completion for public benefit.
As per agency report, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, also shared details about the event on social media. He stated that the Yellow Line spans 19.15 kilometers, stretching from RV Road to Bommasandra with 16 stations, and has been built at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore. Additionally, Phase-3 of the metro, covering 44.65 kilometers at a projected cost of Rs 15,611 crore, will be a transformative expansion for the city’s mass transit network.
The inauguration of the Yellow Line is expected to ease traffic congestion and significantly improve connectivity across key areas of Bengaluru, aligning with the broader goals of urban mobility and sustainable development.
