Gujarat ATS Arrests AQIS Terror Module Mastermind Shama Parveen from Bengaluru

Ahmedabad, July 30 : In a major breakthrough in its anti-terror operations, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Shama Parveen, a key conspirator linked to the Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), from Bengaluru. Her arrest follows crucial leads obtained from four AQIS operatives apprehended last week.

Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, confirmed the development in a media briefing and lauded the ATS team for dismantling an online terror module. He emphasized that the arrested woman is highly radicalized and maintained direct contact with Pakistan-based terrorists.

According to Sanghavi, Shama Parveen was actively operating five separate online terror modules and was attempting to spread a terror network in India under the guidance of handlers from Pakistan. The investigation has revealed that she used multiple digital devices, from which key evidence has been recovered.

“This is a major success in preventing a dangerous terror group from gaining a foothold in India,” said Sanghavi. “Thanks to the proactive and dedicated policing by Gujarat ATS, the conspiracy has been foiled.”

He reiterated that both the state and central governments follow a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone threatening the peace and security of the nation.

Earlier, the Gujarat ATS had arrested four AQIS-linked operatives whose interrogation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Shama Parveen from Bengaluru. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network and its operations.
