Rajkot, July 17 — In preparation for the upcoming School Sports Festival 2025-26, a key meeting was held at the Rajkot Sports Complex, bringing together representatives from urban and rural schools, along with district-level sports officials. The event aims to promote athletic engagement among students across the district.
Organized under the auspices of the Gujarat Sports Authority and the Rajkot District Sports Officer's Office, the festival will run from July 20 to August 31. During the meeting, District Sports Officer V. P. Jadeja informed attendees that a total of 45 competitions will be conducted at both taluka and district levels. He urged schools to encourage maximum student participation and noted that guidance could be sought from local sports training centers if needed.
District Sports Development Officer Ramaben Madra explained that the festival is being organized under the framework of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). Competitions in athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, and volleyball will be held at the taluka level for age categories Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19, while other events will take place directly at the district level. As per agency report, detailed guidelines regarding competition rules and formats were also shared during the meeting to ensure smooth execution of the festival.
The gathering marked an important step in ensuring inclusive and well-coordinated sports participation among school children in the Rajkot region.
