Mumbai, July 14 – Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has expressed strong admiration for the upcoming Yash Raj Films production Saiyaara, calling it the most significant romantic film of this generation. Known for his iconic love story Aashiqui, which turned Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal into overnight stars, Bhatt drew a parallel between his classic film and the upcoming release directed by Mohit Suri.
As per agency report, Bhatt noted that just as every generation has a love story that defines its emotions and values, Saiyaara is poised to become that cultural marker for today’s youth. Reflecting on the legacy of Aashiqui, which also became renowned for its immensely popular music, Bhatt expressed hope that Saiyaara would resonate with audiences in a similar way and establish its lead actors Ahaan Pandey and Aniit Padda as the next stars of Indian cinema.
He shared his belief that Saiyaara will not only evoke memories of Aashiqui for those familiar with it but also set a new standard for contemporary romantic storytelling. Emphasizing the importance of evolution across generations, he expressed satisfaction in seeing a project like Saiyaara potentially redefining the narrative of love on screen.
Bhatt, who referred to director Mohit Suri as his protégé, said that nothing would make him prouder than to see Suri surpass his own legacy with this film. Produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara is scheduled to release globally in cinemas on July 18.
