Four Eye Donations Bring New Vision, Reflecting Community Spirit in Surat
Surat, July 9 – In a commendable example of social responsibility and humanitarian service, four eye donations were recently facilitated through the awareness and dedicated efforts of the Shri Surat Modh Vanik Adajan-Rander Road Yuvak Mandal. These donations offer the hope of restored vision to four visually impaired individuals, marking a significant step toward spreading awareness about organ donation.
The first donor was the late Praveenchandra Mansharam Mandelewalla (age 82), resident of Mandelewalla Estate, Athwa Lines. His eye donation was inspired by Nilesh Mandelewalla from Donor Life. The second donor was the late Sureshchandra Balubhai Mamarawala (age 74), resident of D-103, Namrata Complex, Honey Park Road, Adajan. His eye donation was encouraged by Champakbhai Bodawala of SMC.
The eye retrieval procedures were carried out by the dedicated doctors from Lok Drashti Eye Bank and Red Cross Blood Bank, including Dr. Praful Shiroya, Dr. Jignesh Patel, and Dr. Godhan Doodhagara.
Members of the Yuvak Mandal’s Eye Donation Committee — Paresh Bhatia, Pankaj Manjarawala, Jeetu Cutlerywala, Jatin Mehta, Manoj Gandhi, Nitin Ghyal, and Deepak Anajwala — played a key role in coordinating with the eye bank and ensuring a dignified farewell for the donors with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra.
This noble act not only strengthens the movement for eye donation within the community but also serves as an inspiration for future generations to engage in the service of humanity. The initiative reflects the power of collective awareness and the positive impact it can have on the lives of others.
