Swarm of Bees Delays Indigo Flight at Surat Airport

Surat, July 8 – In a highly unusual and concerning incident, thousands of bees swarmed an Indigo flight at Surat Airport early Monday evening, causing a delay of nearly an hour for passengers bound for Jaipur. The unexpected event created confusion and discomfort for both airport staff and travelers on board.

According to reports, the Indigo flight was scheduled to depart for Jaipur at 4:20 PM. Passengers had already boarded, and luggage loading was in progress when a massive swarm of bees descended upon the aircraft and clustered around the baggage door. The sudden appearance of bees caught the crew and ground staff off guard.

Initial attempts to disperse the bees using smoke and water spray were unsuccessful, as the number of insects continued to increase. As the situation grew more difficult to manage, the airport authorities called in the fire brigade. Specialized spraying techniques were used to finally remove the bees after persistent efforts.

Following the clearance, the aircraft was able to depart at 5:26 PM, nearly an hour behind schedule. Passengers remained anxious throughout the delay but expressed relief once the flight finally took off without further complications.

As per report, this is believed to be the first time such an incident has occurred at Surat Airport. In response, airport officials are now considering enhanced vigilance and preventive measures to avoid similar disruptions in the future.
