Free Kalaripayattu Training Empowers Women in Vadodara Through Ancient Martial Art
Vadodara, July 4 : In a unique initiative aimed at empowering women and raising awareness about self-defense, free training sessions in Kalaripayattu, India’s oldest martial art form, are being offered in Vadodara. The effort is spearheaded by Mumbai-based martial arts expert Kishorbhai Chudasama and his daughter-in-law Hardeepben Chudasama.
Kalaripayattu, a traditional martial art originating from Kerala, is considered the world's oldest system of self-defense and is often referred to as the "mother of all martial arts." Kishorbhai, who has been teaching the art in Mumbai for many years, recently brought this ancient discipline to Vadodara, organizing a three-day training camp for women and young girls. The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation, and plans are underway to establish a permanent training class in the city to benefit more women.
As per agency report, Kishorbhai emphasized that Kalaripayattu is not only about physical strength but also boosts mental resilience, confidence, and courage. He believes that through this training, women can equip themselves to handle challenging situations and live fearlessly in society.
Hardeepben Chudasama, who mastered the art within a year under Kishorbhai’s guidance, is now actively training other women. She explained that Kalaripayattu is a simple yet highly effective system of self-defense. Practicing it has significantly enhanced her confidence, and she encourages all women to learn this empowering discipline.
The origins of Kalaripayattu date back thousands of years. More than just a martial art, it encompasses a holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual balance. The training involves the use of traditional weapons, vital point strikes (marma therapy), physical flexibility, discipline, and the cultivation of internal energy.
By reviving this historical and cultural treasure in today’s context, instructors like Kishorbhai and Hardeepben are sending a powerful message: self-defense is every woman’s right. Through learning Kalaripayattu, women can become fearless, empowered, and self-reliant.
