Amitabh Bachchan Reflects on the Value of 'Sanskars' in Life Through His Blog
Mumbai, June 24 — Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has shared his deep reflections on the significance of ‘sanskars’ (values and cultural rites) in a recent blog post, emphasizing their foundational role in shaping human character and society.
Explaining the traditional concept, Bachchan wrote, "In Hindu tradition, ‘sanskars’ refer to specific rituals and customs observed at different stages of life. Their purpose is to purify the body, mind, and thoughts, and to nurture a noble character and strong personality."
He elaborated that sanskars play a crucial role in shaping an individual’s behavior, mindset, and moral compass. "They guide us toward the right path, help us distinguish between right and wrong, and teach us to live with honesty and integrity," he noted.
Highlighting their role in preserving cultural continuity, Bachchan added, "Sanskars are a way to pass on our cultural values, traditions, and beliefs from one generation to the next. They help maintain unity in society and ensure that our heritage continues to thrive."
According to the veteran actor, sanskars instill inner strength, reduce fear, and empower people to face life with courage and confidence.
Reflecting on his own upbringing, he wrote, "In our lives, especially during childhood, my mother and Babujji always gave immense importance to sanskars. It was a beautiful virtue instilled in us from the beginning."
He concluded by calling sanskars a priceless legacy: "They are the greatest wealth we inherit from our elders and ancestors. We preserve them like a precious gift."
