Rajkot Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm and Grandeur
Rajkot – The district-level celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day was held on Friday with great enthusiasm at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall in Vimal Nagar, under the joint aegis of the Gujarat State Yoga Board and Rajkot District Administration. This year’s theme, “One Earth, One Health Yoga”, aimed to inspire people across the globe towards a healthier lifestyle through yoga.
The event was conducted by Mrs. Vandanaben Rajani, Saurashtra Zone Coordinator of the Yoga Board, who led the gathering through the 45-minute Common Yoga Protocol. Participants practiced prayer, micro-exercises, yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation, and took a collective resolution to maintain well-being. She also explained the physical and mental benefits of yoga.
Rajkot Collector Prabhav Joshi, addressing the gathering, said, “Yoga is not just exercise but a scientific and balanced way of living. Regular yoga can help us maintain physical and mental fitness and combat modern lifestyle disorders such as obesity.”
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including MP Rambhai Mokariya, District Panchayat President Mrs. Pravinaben Rangani, Range IG Ashok Kumar Yadav, District Development Officer Anandu Suresh Govind, SP Himkar Singh, Additional Collector A.K. Gautam, DRDA Director A.K. Vastani, Provincial Officer Chandni Parmar, District Youth Development Officer Hitesh Dihora, and District Sports Officer V.P. Jadeja.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the nation from Visakhapatnam, while Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed the state from Vadnagar. Both addresses were broadcast live at the event venue.
The yoga celebration witnessed active participation from school and college students, yoga practitioners, and representatives of various social organizations, creating an inspiring and energetic atmosphere. The event not only highlighted the importance of physical and mental wellness but also delivered a powerful message of unity and health awareness across Rajkot district.
