Momai Complex: A Key Textile Trading Hub in Surat for Over Three Decades
Surat – Situated near Sahara Darwaja on Ring Road in the Umarwada area, the Momai Complex has been a prominent textile trading hub in Surat for the past 30 years. This multi-storey complex houses 56 residential flats and 80 commercial shops, accommodating a large number of saree traders and commission agents.
Under the leadership of Chief Arvind Khandelwal and Deputy Head Damodar Vyas, an 11-member committee manages the day-to-day affairs and ensures smooth business operations within the complex.
Speaking to Loktej, Damodar Vyas explained that the complex is divided into two sections, spanning from the first to the seventh floor. These levels are home to offices of prominent saree traders and commission agents who conduct business with both domestic and international buyers. He noted that Momai Complex's central location within the textile hub provides excellent connectivity and convenience for traders, contributing to its continued commercial vibrancy.

The ground floor features various offices, including the Textile Yuva Brigade’s office, which offers free support and services to both traders and customers. The brigade also plays an active role in resolving trade-related issues and participating in community service initiatives.
Vyas added that Momai Complex remains one of Surat’s oldest and most reputed textile market centers. Despite the evolution of the textile business landscape, it continues to serve as a crucial focal point for trade.
To ensure safety and order, the complex is equipped with CCTV surveillance and security guards. Additionally, dedicated parking facilities are available, enhancing convenience for visitors and business operators alike.
