Sanctuaries and National Parks in Gujarat to Remain Closed for Tourists from June 15 to October 15

Ahmedabad, June 12 – In line with annual practice during the monsoon season, all sanctuaries and national parks across Gujarat will remain completely closed to tourists from June 15 until October 15, 2025. The Gujarat Forest Department has issued a notification announcing the seasonal closure, citing safety concerns and wildlife conservation measures.

As per report, the decision aligns with the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, under which tourist entry is restricted during the monsoon months due to adverse weather conditions such as heavy rains, flash floods, cyclones, and deteriorating road infrastructure. In addition to safety concerns, the period marks the breeding season for many species of birds, mammals, and reptiles, and human activity could disrupt their natural habitats.

The forest department has clarified that all sanctuaries and national parks will reopen to tourists on October 16, 2025. It has also advised that no online bookings—whether through government or private portals—are being accepted during the closure period. Tourists have been urged to take special note of this restriction to avoid inconvenience.

The seasonal closure is part of an ongoing effort to balance ecological preservation with responsible tourism, ensuring that Gujarat’s rich biodiversity remains protected during the most sensitive time of the year.
