Tragic Fire in Delhi’s Dwarka High-Rise Claims Lives of Man and Two Children

New Delhi, June 10 – A devastating fire broke out on Tuesday morning in a duplex flat located on the 8th and 9th floors of a residential high-rise in Dwarka, Delhi, resulting in the deaths of three family members, including two children. As per agency report, the victims died after jumping from the eighth-floor balcony in an attempt to escape the blaze.

According to Delhi Police officials, the fire started from a temple located on the 8th floor of the building and spread rapidly through PVC panels. The deceased have been identified as Yash Yadav (35), his 12-year-old daughter, and an 11-year-old relative who had come to attend a religious event at the family’s home.

Eyewitnesses and video footage captured from nearby buildings show thick black smoke and flames engulfing the upper floors. The family, residing in a duplex covering the top two floors, initially tried to escape via the stairs. However, the children were left behind, and Yash reportedly returned to save them. Tragically, they couldn’t make it out in time.

The children were rushed to Aakash Hospital, where they were declared dead. Yash was taken to IGI Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. His wife and 18-year-old son sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at Aakash Hospital.

The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said it received the first emergency call at 10:01 AM. Initially, eight fire tenders were dispatched, and more were sent as the severity of the fire became evident. DFS officials stated that the flames were visible from a distance, and heavy smoke poured from the upper floors.

Police confirmed that all residents of the society were safely evacuated. Essential services, including electricity and PNG connections, were cut off as a precautionary measure. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been informed to assess the structural stability of the building.

While several residents managed to escape unharmed, the emotional toll of the tragedy was evident. Survivors shared how people on the sixth floor were seen breaking windows to escape the smoke, and some upper-floor residents narrowly escaped the flames.

The fire operation has now been called off. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire and the safety compliance of the building.
