Surat, June 9 – Located in the Ramwadi Salabatpura area on Ring Road, Jagdamba Textile Market has established itself as one of the prominent wholesale fabric markets in Surat. Since its inception in 2002, the market has garnered trust from traders across the country and become a pivotal center for the textile trade.
The market is governed by a well-structured committee comprising 21 members. The leadership includes Chairman Ratanlal Jodhiwal, Vice Chairman Santosh Dhadhewa, Secretary Sitaram Shashwat, and Treasurer Chhatar Nath. Speaking to Loktej, committee member and operator of Mohit Fashion, J.B. Sharma, shared that he hails from Rajasthan and has been involved in Surat’s textile trade since 1984. Since 2002, he has been engaged in the wholesale dress material business within Jagdamba Textile Market.
According to Sharma, the market is known for its variety of synthetic fabrics, sarees, garments, and other materials, all traded exclusively in bulk. Both online and offline modes are operational, but the market is particularly recognized for its wholesale strength and functions primarily through reputable agents. Traders from all Indian states visit the market to conduct business, making it a significant destination for textile commerce.
Santosh Kumar Dhadhewa, the market's vice chairman and proprietor of Richi Textile, shared that he has been operating in the dress material segment through the lot-sot model for 27 years. His primary customer base spans Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. He emphasized that his business relies solely on offline trading. Dhadhewa also expressed concern over the current state of the textile industry, noting that the market has been in a continuous slump for the past three to four years, with little sign of recovery.
Sitaram Rameshwar Lal Sharma, owner of Monica Fabrics, mentioned that he has been trading in fabrics and garments in the same market for 25 years. His business connects with clients across India, and he too operates exclusively offline.
Chairman Sharma highlighted that several facilities have been arranged within the market to ensure a secure, organized, and convenient environment for both traders and customers. These efforts are aimed at sustaining Jagdamba Textile Market as a key player in Surat's wholesale fabric trade ecosystem.
