Paving the way to a Developed India – 11 years of Modi Government — Himadri Singh (Member of Parliament)

New Delhi [India], June 9: The government of Narendra Modi, the most popular leader in the country and the world, is completing 11 years. I am happy that over the past few years, I have had the experience of working with him as a Member of Parliament. The Modi government is committed to the holistic development of the nation. The tireless dedication to public service that Modi ji demonstrates is truly unparalleled.

As a child, I used to hear that during times of food shortages in India, PL480 wheat was imported from the United States, which was known as pig food. Deaths due to hunger were common in those days. Today, the country has become self-reliant in the field of agriculture. Recognizing food and water as basic natural necessities, the Modi government enacted the Food Security Act, providing free grains to the deprived and poor sections of society.

The dignity of half the population—women—was given due importance. To ensure that women do not have to depend on others for their daily needs, the BJP government initiated the LadliBehna scheme, under which a fixed amount is transferred to their accounts every month.

Housing for all is one of the key goals of the Modi government. Accordingly, financial support for building permanent homes was arranged under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Even while undertaking all these welfare initiatives, the Modi government has ensured that the country’s economy does not weaken. India is moving toward becoming a $5 trillion economy. In 2014, India’s economic growth rate was at a low of 4.7%. Today, with a growth rate of 6.2%, we are among the fastest-growing major economies. We have earned the honor of being the fourth-largest economic power in the world, following the United States, China, and Germany—we have even surpassed Japan. And the Prime Minister’s goal is for India to soon become the third-largest economy in the world.

We are now advancing in science and technology. Our reach extends to the Moon and Mars. Traditional industries are being revitalized through innovative technological support. A world-class infrastructure for manufacturing computers, machines, and mobile phones has now been established in India.

Rather than seeing the population as a burden, the government has focused on developing it as a national resource and planned its effective utilization. There are numerous government schemes supporting self-employment. Initiatives like the MUDRA Loan, Jan Man Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Vishwakarma Yojana have empowered a large section of society. Through the Ayushman Card, common people now find it easier to access treatment in major hospitals. On the other hand, the number of medical colleges has also increased. The Modi government’s aim is to build a self-reliant India in every sector.

The network of railways and roads is expanding across the country. Today, we have world-class roads and railways, and there has been a significant increase in the number of airports and air travel facilities.

It was necessary to strengthen and modernize the legal system. Thus, outdated colonial-era laws were replaced with the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code), which is relevant and contemporary.

The Modi government is a government of the people, committed to public service and national development. Our government welcomes suggestions and advice. Opportunities are open for new entrepreneurs and fresh ideas. Through lateral entry in governance, qualified and experienced individuals are being brought into administrative roles.

We are swiftly moving on the path toward a self-reliant, developed, powerful, and capable India.
