Madhusudhan Kota: A Cinematographer’s Journey Through Indian Visual Media

Madhusudhan Kota is an Indian cinematographer known for his work across television, films, OTT platforms, and documentaries. He began his career in 1995 in Hyderabad as a news cameraman for city cable and gradually moved into assistant roles in camera and editing for various serials.

In 2000, he shifted to Mumbai and started working as a Director of Photography (DOP) for commercials. By 2006, he had entered the television editing space, collaborating with Vyjayanthi Tele Ventures on programs like ETV’s JummandiNaadam and Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. His experience spans both cinematography and editing.

His contributions as a television cameraman include work on shows such as DD’s Geetha Saram, Gemini TV’s VasanthaRagava, Super Boy, Sravanthi, Manchu Pallaki, ETV’s Ramanuja Acharya, and Maa TV’s Sri SrimathiKalyanam.

In the OTT space, Kota has worked on projects like I Am Guilty and Pavithra. His 2018 film Sameeram received critical attention, and the 2025 film Bandi further expanded his body of work.

He has also contributed to music videos, including songs produced for the Government of Madhya Pradesh (School Chale Songs), and worked on an international documentary project based in Malaysia.

In 2025, Kota launched Makota, a Hyderabad-based digital news blog. Makota focuses on exploring themes related to India, literature, entertainment, history, and social issues, with an emphasis on public awareness and thoughtful storytelling.

His upcoming projects include Sant Tukaram, Mahakali Nagar, Unknown to Known (starring John Abraham), Choomantar, Maiyat, and Ashramavaasini.
Madhusudhan Kota continues to work in various formats of visual media, including independent and regional cinema.
