Fugitive Criminal Threatens to Jump from Fifth Floor in Ahmedabad, Eventually Nabbed by Police

Ahmedabad, June 7 – A dramatic standoff unfolded in Ahmedabad on Saturday when a notorious criminal, cornered by the crime branch, threatened to jump from the fifth floor of a residential building in a desperate attempt to evade arrest. According to an official statement, the accused was eventually taken into custody following the use of "appropriate force" by the police.

As per agency report, the accused, identified as Abhishek alias Sanjaysinh Tomar alias Shooter, was wanted in multiple cases involving physical assault and had been on the run for a considerable period. A tip-off led crime branch officials to his suspected location in the Odhav area, specifically to Flat No. 505 in Building X of Shivam Awas.

Upon the police team's arrival, the accused locked himself inside the flat and climbed onto the kitchen balcony roof, threatening to leap off if they attempted to apprehend him. The situation escalated further when, after the police broke down the door, he began live-streaming the standoff on social media while repeating his threat to jump.

Emergency services, including the fire brigade and the police control room, were promptly alerted. Despite their presence and efforts to defuse the situation, the standoff persisted. Eventually, the police intervened with calculated force and successfully detained the accused without any casualties.

Authorities confirmed that several cases, particularly involving assault, are currently pending against Tomar. The incident has raised concerns over the increasing use of social media by criminals during such confrontations. An investigation is underway to further probe the circumstances and assess any additional charges related to the standoff.
