Prime Minister Modi Reiterates Commitment to Farmer Welfare with Renewed Enthusiasm

New Delhi, June 7 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Saturday that his government’s initiatives over the past 11 years have significantly contributed to farmer prosperity and transformation in Indian agriculture. Highlighting his administration’s continued dedication to the farming community, the Prime Minister stated that efforts aimed at farmer welfare will persist with even greater enthusiasm in the future.

As per agency report, Modi shared a message on the social media platform X, underlining the government's focus on critical areas such as soil health and irrigation. He noted that these measures have delivered substantial benefits to the agricultural sector and improved the quality of life for millions of farmers.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by farmers before 2014, Modi mentioned that farmers were previously compelled to borrow for even basic needs. In contrast, his government’s policies in the last 11 years have eased their financial burdens. He cited key initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), which provides annual direct cash transfers, and the crop insurance scheme that offers financial protection against unpredictable agricultural risks.

The Prime Minister also noted the consistent rise in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) under his government, ensuring fair compensation for crops and enhanced farmer income.

With the completion of 11 years in office on June 9, Modi is highlighting sector-specific accomplishments of his administration. He took oath for a third consecutive term as Prime Minister on June 9, 2024, marking a significant milestone in Indian political history.
