Indian Team Arrives in the UK for Five-Test Series Against England
London, June 7 – The Indian cricket team has arrived in the United Kingdom to play a five-match Test series against England, marking the beginning of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle. The team departed from Mumbai on Friday night and landed in the UK ahead of the highly anticipated series.
As per agency report, the tour marks a new era for Indian cricket under the leadership of newly appointed captain Shubman Gill, following the recent retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The young team is expected to forge a fresh identity as it takes on one of the sport’s most historic rivalries on English soil.
Several members of the squad had already reached England earlier as part of the India A team, which is currently engaged in a three-match unofficial Test series against the England Lions. The overlapping schedules are intended to help players acclimatize to English conditions before the main series begins.
In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on platform X, debutant Sai Sudharsan expressed excitement about joining the squad for the Test series and conveyed greetings from the UK.
The five-match series is scheduled to begin on June 20 in Leeds, followed by matches in Birmingham (July 2–6), Lord’s (July 10–14), Manchester (July 23–27), and The Oval (August 4–8). The outcome of this series is expected to significantly shape the early standings of the new WTC cycle.
