Gujarat’s ‘Obesity-Free Gujarat’ Campaign Inspires Citizens Towards a Healthier Future

In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, the Gujarat government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has launched the ‘Obesity-Free Gujarat’ campaign. The initiative aims to promote health, fitness, and awareness among citizens, especially children and youth.

Rajkot district has emerged as an active participant in this campaign, where inspiring stories of transformation are motivating others to join the movement. One such example is 53-year-old Deeptiben Dholakia, who successfully reduced 15 kilograms in just four months through dedicated yoga and exercise. Previously struggling with diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression, Deeptiben transformed her lifestyle and regained both physical health and self-confidence.

“I weighed 92 kg earlier and have now reduced to 77 kg,” she shared. “This transformation has changed the course of my life. Learning that the government is promoting such a campaign gives me immense pride and motivation.”

Similarly, 58-year-old Sanjaybhai Ondhiya maintains his health through regular yoga and fitness training. He urges the youth to adopt healthier habits and avoid fast food. “It was only later in life that I understood the importance of health. I now encourage the younger generation to become aware in time, so they don’t face lifestyle-related diseases in the future,” he said.

As per agency report, this state-level initiative is not just spreading awareness but also making strides towards building a society of fit, health-conscious, and scientifically inclined individuals. The ‘Obesity-Free Gujarat’ campaign is rapidly evolving into a mass movement, drawing participation across all age groups and becoming a key pillar in Gujarat’s contribution to a healthier and developed India.
