Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 3: Professor Dr. Prem Lal Joshi, a globally recognised academic in the field of accounting, was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award in Accounting Education and Thought Leadership at the fifth edition of the Asia Education Conclave (AEC), held at Hotel Meluha, Powai, Mumbai, on May 31, 2025.
The conclave, organised by AEC headquartered in Bangkok, brought together educators, researchers and academic professionals from India and abroad to celebrate excellence in education and highlight the lasting impact of academic leadership.
With a distinguished career spanning over 45 years, Prof. Joshi has made exceptional contributions to the field of accounting and finance. He has authored 10 books, including accounting titles featured in Bahrain’s schools curriculum, and published 153 research papers in reputed journals. In addition, he has written more than 80 general articles on socio-economic issues and presented his work at 45 international conferences.
He is the founding editor of four international journals in accounting and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Auditing and Auditing Studies (IJAAS).
Prof. Joshi has taught at several leading institutions including NITIE Mumbai (now IIM Mumbai), the University of Bahrain, Multimedia University in Malaysia, HNB Garhwal University, and various universities across Asia and Europe. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to value-based education and high-impact research.
Over the years, his work has explored topics ranging from zero-based budgeting, internal auditing, corporate governance, and environmental accounting in Indian public enterprises to management accounting practices and financial reporting practices in the Middle East and Malaysia. Prof. Joshi has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Hind Rattan, Bharat Gaurav, Bharat Nirman Award, and the MTC Globe Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World, USA.
Expressing his gratitude at the event, Prof. Joshi said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award.
