Amrit Awasotsav to Launch Over 42,000 Homes under PM Awas Yojana
Prime Minister Modi to Attend Celebration in Gandhinagar on May 12
Gandhinagar / Ahmedabad, May 9 - The Amrit Awasotsav, a housing celebration event, will take place at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on May 12, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. Over 42,000 homes, funded by the Modi Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban and Rural) and costing approximately Rs 1,946 crore, will be inaugurated, followed by Bhumi Pujan and Griha Pravesh ceremonies. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Agriculture and Rural Housing Minister Raghavji Patel, and other ministers are also expected to attend the event.
Under the PM Awas Yojana Urban, 7,113 houses will be inaugurated, 4,331 will have Bhumi Pujan ceremonies, and 18,997 will have Griha Pravesh ceremonies. In addition, 12,000 homes will be inaugurated across 3,740 villages in 232 tehsils under the PM Awas Yojana Gramin. In total, 42,441 homes will be inaugurated, with Bhoomipujan and Griha Pravesh ceremonies taking place at an expense of Rs 1,946 crore. Seven beneficiaries of the urban and rural scheme will receive keys to their new homes, while Prime Minister Modi will interact virtually with other beneficiaries across the state. A short film showcasing the PM Awas Yojana Urban and Rural will be screened during the event.
The main Amrit Awasotsav event at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with 7,000 beneficiaries, including 4,000 from urban areas and 3,000 from rural areas, also present. Beneficiaries from cities, municipalities, and villages across the state will participate virtually in the program. Live telecasts will be provided through BISAG connectivity at approximately 3,900 project sites (urban and rural), featuring festive decorations, traditional folk songs, and folk dances.
Participants will also pledge to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle during the event. Dignitaries such as MPs, MLAs, mayors, and other prominent figures will be present at the program sites. It is worth noting that, to date, 11.56 lakh homes have been completed under the PM Awas Yojana in Gujarat, including over 7.50 lakh homes in urban areas and 4.06 lakh homes in villages.
