Surat Family’s Organ Donation After Road Accident Saves Five Lives

In a recent case from the Ramchowk area of Mota Varachha, a tragic road accident involving an elderly cyclist ultimately led to a life-saving act of generosity. Following the victim being declared brain dead, the family made the courageous decision to donate his organs, giving a new lease of life to five individuals.

The incident occurred on the night of May 26, 2025, when a senior member of the Sojitra family lost control while cycling near Mota Varachha and fell, suffering a severe head injury. He was immediately rushed by ambulance to P.P. Savani Hospital in Surat, where he was admitted in an unconscious state. After medical evaluation, doctors declared him brain dead.

During this difficult period, representatives from the Jeevandeep Organ Donation Foundation approached the family and sensitively explained the significance and impact of organ donation. After thoughtful consideration, the family made the selfless and inspiring decision to proceed with donating the organs.

As per agency report, the donation included the elderly man’s liver, both kidneys, and both eyes, which were successfully transplanted to patients in urgent need. This act not only saved multiple lives but also restored sight to two individuals.
