Rajkot, June 5 – In observance of World Environment Day, a special plastic collection and cleanliness drive was carried out in Derdi Kumbhaji village, located in Gondal taluka of Rajkot district. The initiative focused on cleaning plastic waste from public areas such as the local Anganwadi center, bus stand, health center, and surrounding roads and shrubbery.
As per agency report, the campaign witnessed active participation from health workers, Anganwadi staff, and a large number of local residents. United by a common goal, the villagers pledged to protect the environment and make their village free from plastic waste.
On the occasion, the village sarpanch and talati addressed the gathering to emphasize the importance of cleanliness and explained the harmful effects of plastic on health and the environment. They encouraged the community to adopt alternatives such as cloth and paper bags and highlighted the benefits of using traditional, eco-friendly products made from banana and khakhra leaves, which are locally available and environmentally sustainable.
