Surat Set to Inaugurate Asia’s Largest Biodiversity Park, ‘Wild Valley’, on May 27
Surat is poised to receive a major ecological landmark with the inauguration of the Wild Valley Biodiversity Park, which will be opened to the public on Tuesday, May 27. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the park virtually from Gandhinagar, marking a significant milestone in the city’s green development journey.
Developed by the Surat Municipal Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 145 crore, the expansive biodiversity park spans around 60 hectares along both banks of the Kankara Creek. As per agency report, the park is envisioned as a green oasis that not only enriches the city's environment but also contributes to reducing water pollution, enhancing groundwater levels, and offering residents a lush, oxygen-rich space.
The park includes an impressive plantation initiative with over 500,000 trees set to be planted across six hectares. Additionally, it offers a 13-kilometer walking trail and an 11-kilometer cycling track for nature lovers and fitness enthusiasts, making it a hub for recreation and wellness.
Wild Valley Biodiversity Park is expected to serve as an environmental model and a unique urban green zone, promoting eco-conscious lifestyles and providing citizens with a serene retreat amid nature.
