Three Workers Killed, Four Injured as Wall Collapses During Demolition in Gujarat's Mehsana

Mehsana, May 23: A tragic incident occurred in Gujarat's Mehsana district on Friday morning when a wall collapsed during the demolition of a house, resulting in the deaths of three workers and injuries to four others. As per agency report, the accident took place in Sundarpur village of Vijapur taluka while laborers were dismantling an old structure.

According to Superintendent of Police Tarun Duggal, one side of the house suddenly gave way and collapsed onto the workers beneath. The injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment, while local police initiated an investigation into the matter.

A local police official noted that villagers quickly responded to the scene and used heavy machinery to remove debris and rescue those trapped. The deceased were identified as Babu Bhuria, aged 45, Ranjit Thakor, aged 40, and Jitendra Chauhan, aged 25. All three succumbed to injuries on the spot.

Authorities confirmed that the house belonged to Ashwin Patel, who had hired laborers to demolish the old building in order to construct a new one. The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at informal construction and demolition sites across the region.
