Randeep Hooda to Lead in Upcoming Film Based on 'Operation Khukri'
Mumbai, May 20 – Actor Randeep Hooda is set to portray the lead role in the upcoming film Operation Khukri, based on one of the Indian Army’s most daring peacekeeping missions overseas. The film revisits the real-life rescue operation conducted in 2000, when 233 Indian soldiers were held hostage by rebels in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
As per agency report, the story centers around the high-risk mission launched to free the soldiers, highlighting a critical moment in India’s military peacekeeping history. Randeep Hooda will play the role of Major General Raj Pal Punia, who at the time served as a young company commander of the 14th Mechanised Infantry. Amid intense combat in the dense jungles of Sierra Leone, Punia led his troops through extraordinary adversity to secure their release.
In a statement, Hooda shared that Operation Khukri is a story that moved him deeply. He described the film as more than a tale of weapons and glory—it is a tribute to sacrifice, brotherhood, and exceptional courage demonstrated under extreme pressure.
The film promises to deliver a powerful narrative that will resonate with every Indian, honoring the bravery and resilience of the nation’s soldiers in a foreign land.
