Shopkeeper Electrocuted While Cutting Tree Branch in Surat

Surat: A 34-year-old shopkeeper from Mota Varachha died after being electrocuted while attempting to cut branches from a tree above his shop. The incident has left his family in a state of deep mourning.

The victim, Ashish Pathak, owned a paan shop at Golden Chowk in the Varachha area and lived with his family in the Mota Varachha neighborhood. On Monday, he climbed the tree without any proper tools to cut its branches.

During the process, Ashish came into contact with an electric wire passing over his shop and was seriously burnt. Passersby who witnessed the incident alerted the fire department and the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB). A GEB team quickly arrived at the scene, shut down the power line, and initiated efforts to bring Ashish down from the tree.

Following his rescue, Ashish was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, and news of his death spread grief throughout his family. Relatives and community members gathered at the hospital to mourn the tragic loss.
