‘The Imperia Rajhans’ Emerges as Surat’s New Hub for Kurti Trade

Surat: Located at the prime junction of Ring Road near Man Darwaza, 'The Imperia Rajhans' market has swiftly gained recognition as one of the leading destinations for kurti trade in Surat. Established in 2019, the market comprises 261 shops, with nearly 80 percent of them currently operational. Known for its specialization in kurtis, it is rapidly emerging as a prominent textile hub in the city. The market is managed under the supervision of Ijaz Bhai and offers well-structured facilities, including round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, dedicated parking areas, and four lifts for customer and trader convenience.

Speaking to Loktej, Prahlad Agrawal, President of the Aadhatia Kapda Association Surat (AKAS), highlighted the market’s exceptional focus on cleanliness and safety. He emphasized that among Surat’s numerous textile markets, The Imperia Rajhans stands out for its hygiene standards. The presence of the AKAS office within the premises has further enhanced the market's reputation among traders.

Vikas Agrawal, proprietor of the establishment Radha Kripa, shared that he has been in the kurti business for the past three years. His collection ranges from ₹1000 to ₹5000, with a special focus on Indo-Western kurtis designed for weddings and festive occasions. He mentioned that while his operations are currently offline, he plans to expand into online platforms soon. Offering advice to buyers, he stressed the importance of purchasing from verified and registered sellers when shopping online.

Paras Jain, owner of Limisins Design, stated that he has been operating in the market for the past five months, dealing in both wholesale and retail with kurtis priced between ₹700 and ₹2000. According to him, kurtis have become increasingly popular among women, surpassing sarees in daily wear due to their convenience and versatility. He predicted that the demand for kurtis will continue to rise in the coming years.

Despite the market's growth, several shopkeepers expressed concerns about the ongoing metro construction in the area, citing it as a major hindrance to business. They pointed out that in the past year, only a single pillar has been erected, severely disrupting traffic flow and reducing customer footfall. With monthly shop rents ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹50,000, the reduced sales have placed added financial pressure on traders.

Nevertheless, The Imperia Rajhans continues to draw attention as a key location for kurti trade in Surat, blending organized infrastructure with a growing network of trusted retailers. As the market evolves, stakeholders remain hopeful that improvements in urban connectivity will help unlock its full commercial potential.
