Surat RTO Cracks Down on Unsafe Goods Transport; 40 Vehicles Penalized, 12 Seized
In a major enforcement drive aimed at enhancing road safety, the Surat Regional Transport Office (RTO) launched a strict campaign against vehicles transporting hazardous or overloaded goods in violation of traffic regulations. As per agency report, the operation led to the issuance of memos against 40 vehicles and the seizure of 12 vehicles found carrying dangerous materials in an unsafe manner.
According to RTO officials, the overloading and improper transportation of goods by these vehicles posed not only a serious breach of traffic rules but also a significant threat to public safety. The authorities highlighted that such negligence could endanger the lives of other motorists and pedestrians on public roads.
During the operation, fines totaling approximately ₹4 lakh were collected from violators. Officials stated that the action serves as a strong warning against illegal transportation practices and reinforces the commitment to strict monitoring.
They further explained that overloaded vehicles and trucks carrying hazardous substances are potentially life-threatening and demand consistent enforcement efforts. The RTO confirmed that this was not a one-time campaign, but part of an ongoing initiative to prioritize road safety through regular inspections and punitive measures.
By taking this step, the RTO has sent a clear message to vehicle owners and drivers that non-compliance with traffic and safety norms will not be tolerated on Surat’s roads. The drive reflects a firm commitment to ensuring discipline in traffic management and enhancing public safety.
This proactive effort by the Surat RTO is a reassuring move for the city’s residents, emphasizing the importance of regulatory compliance and contributing to the broader goal of accident prevention and safer roadways.
