Man Arrested in Gujarat for Making False Bomb Threat at Bharuch Temple
Bharuch, May 15 – A man has been arrested for making a hoax bomb threat targeting a Swaminarayan temple in Bharuch, Gujarat, as per agency report. The arrest was made after the accused allegedly called the city’s police control room and disaster management center on Wednesday evening, claiming that a group of four individuals would bomb the temple located in Jhadeshwar between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Thursday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Sisara, police teams were immediately dispatched along with bomb detection and disposal squads and sniffer dogs to secure the temple premises. However, after a thorough search, no suspicious items were found in the area.
The investigation quickly led authorities to the accused, identified as Tausif Patel, who was located near Bharuch railway station. Upon questioning, Patel confessed that he made the false calls with the intention of framing his relatives amid an ongoing property dispute.
The police stated that the accused admitted to feeling harassed by one of his relatives and claimed that his brothers had refused to give him a share in the family property. In an attempt to implicate them, he fabricated the bomb threat.
An official police statement confirmed that a case has been registered against Patel at the Bharuch City 'C' Division Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 217 and 353. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the matter.
