Surat Marble Traders Boycott Imports from Turkey, Rally Behind Indian and Allied Markets

Surat – In a significant move driven by patriotic sentiment and economic strategy, marble traders in Surat have decided to halt the import of marble from Turkey. The decision was made during a meeting organized under the leadership of the Kishangarh Marble Association and has gained widespread support across major marble trade hubs, including Kishangarh and Bhilwara.

Babulal Kumawat, owner of Shree Shyam Marble and one of the prominent voices behind the initiative, stated that the campaign originally began in Udaipur and is now gaining momentum in other cities, including Surat. He revealed that earlier, around eight major traders and over two hundred dealers in Surat were importing colored marble material from Turkey. However, in a show of unity, they have collectively resolved to discontinue Turkish imports.

According to Kumawat, the traders will now focus on sourcing marble from countries such as Italy, Brazil, Iran, and India itself. He emphasized that this shift will not negatively impact the local trade market as there are ample alternative sources available to meet demand.

Highlighting the underlying motivation, Kumawat appealed to traders across the country to prioritize domestic procurement wherever possible. He said that increasing trade within India will not only bolster the national economy but also contribute to the broader cause of nation-building.

The decision has been welcomed as a reflection of economic nationalism and is expected to inspire similar actions in other sectors concerned with import dependency.
