Ahmedabad, May 12 — A tragic road accident claimed the lives of five individuals, including three brothers, near Dholera town in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3 PM near Sandheda village on the Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar highway, as per agency report.
According to officials from the Dholera police station, a high-speed SUV collided head-on with a car coming from the opposite direction. The SUV was carrying six passengers, while the car had two women onboard.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV was en route from Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad when the collision took place. Four occupants of the SUV, including three siblings and a cousin, died on the spot. One of the two women traveling in the car also succumbed to her injuries, bringing the total death toll to five.
Three other individuals sustained injuries in the accident and were promptly rushed to a hospital in Bhavnagar for treatment. Police and emergency services reached the scene soon after receiving information and carried out rescue and recovery operations.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident, with speeding suspected to be a major factor.
