New Delhi, May 10 – In a decisive response to Pakistan’s recent drone strikes and attempted assaults on Indian military and civilian infrastructure, India on Saturday announced that it had targeted eight Pakistani military installations, including weapon depots and command centers. The retaliation marks a significant escalation amid ongoing military tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
As per agency report, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes using fighter jets and stand-off weapons on locations such as Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian. The targets included radar sites, command centers, and ammunition depots. The radar systems at Pasrur and Sialkot airbases were also struck.
Military spokesperson Colonel Sophia Qureshi, addressing a joint press briefing alongside Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, stated that India remains committed to de-escalation provided Pakistan refrains from further aggression. “Our response was swift and measured, focused solely on identified military targets,” she said.
Qureshi condemned Pakistan’s targeting of civilian areas and essential services. She revealed that Pakistan had launched missiles at Air Force stations in Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur, including a school and medical center. Similar attacks occurred in Punjab after 1:40 AM, causing limited damage.
Vyomika Singh detailed that Pakistan used unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, and fighter jets in a series of attempted strikes on 26 locations along India’s western front. The Indian armed forces, she said, successfully neutralized most threats, though minor damage was sustained at air bases in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj.
India also rejected Pakistan’s claims of destroying Indian S-400 systems, BrahMos bases, and ammunition depots. Photos from Sirsa and Suratgarh airbases were presented to refute allegations, showing operational runways and intact infrastructure.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that India’s countermeasures were a calibrated response to Pakistan’s “deliberate provocations” and warned that further escalation would be met with similar intensity. He reiterated that Pakistan’s continued use of drones and artillery against civilians in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab reflects a “reckless and inhumane campaign.”
The Indian Army, according to the statement, remains fully operational and vigilant across all sectors, prepared to respond to any further attempts by Pakistan to disturb regional peace.
This escalation follows the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 Indian civilians, prompting India’s Operation Sindoor—a series of missile strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir earlier this week.
