India Responds Appropriately to Pakistan’s Attempt to Target Indian Installations: Foreign Secretary Misri
New Delhi, May 9 – Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday stated that the Indian Armed Forces responded in a "proportionate and adequate manner" to Pakistan’s attempts to target Indian establishments on Thursday night. His remarks came during a press conference held in the capital amid growing cross-border military tensions.
As per agency report, Misri highlighted that Pakistan deliberately targeted religious sites, calling it yet another “despicable act” by the neighboring country. The attack attempts, he said, were not only aggressive but aimed at provoking further escalation.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, also present at the briefing, revealed that Pakistan had violated Indian airspace during the night of May 8–9 in an attempt to strike military installations. According to Singh, Pakistan deployed between 300 and 400 drones across 36 locations ranging from Leh in the north to the Sir Creek region in the west.
She confirmed that the Indian defense systems effectively intercepted and neutralized the incoming drones, preventing any damage to the intended targets.
The Indian response underscores the country’s preparedness to safeguard its sovereignty while maintaining regional stability amid escalating hostilities.
