After Pahalgam Terror Attack, Crackdown on Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals in Rajkot

Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, security agencies across the country have intensified their vigilance. In response, a special operation is underway in Rajkot, Gujarat, to identify and deport Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally. So far, authorities have detained 21 individuals from Rajkot city and five others from various parts of the district.

According to officials, the arrests in Rajkot city were made through coordinated efforts by several police units. The Special Operations Group (SOGA) apprehended 12 individuals, LCB Zone-1 arrested two, B-Division Police detained two, Gandhigram-2 Police and Thorala Police each caught two, and Aji Dam Police picked up another two. In the rural parts of Rajkot district, two individuals were detained in Jetpur, two in Upleta, and one in Paddhari.

District Superintendent of Police Himkar Singh informed that over 27,000 laborers have been screened across the district, resulting in the identification of five Bangladeshi nationals residing without legal documentation. To support this extensive operation, a total of 85 police teams have been deployed to locate and apprehend suspected individuals.

In Jetpur, the Udyognagar Police arrested a man named Akram Sheikh from SBI Road, Navagadh, who was found in possession of a Bangladeshi identification card. Previously, a woman named Ruksa was also discovered living illegally in the same area. In Upleta, a mother-son duo was taken into custody for similar violations.

Paddhari Police acted on a reliable tip-off and detained Shahida Akhtar, a 34-year-old Bangladeshi woman, near Moviya Circle. She was reportedly residing in the vicinity of Gurudwara Chowkdi in Jamnagar.

As per agency report, police have confirmed that this operation will continue in the coming days to ensure the safety and security of the state and maintain law and order.
